A parallel between Mark 11:1-2 and Luke 4:1-13.
Jesus was led to the desert by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit was with Jesus and the devil too. Wild beasts were also there. 40 days being tempted by the devil while he was hungry. Some folks say that Satan came after he fasted the 40 days. Look closely at the text. Lucifer was there.
Jesus with all of his power used restraint while in the desert. Yes restraint. He held back power while going through a process of allowing his body to go weak for a short period of time in order to get stronger. If Jesus was tempted everyday for 40 days while he was hungry, what do you think he will do to you?
The enemy took Jesus to high mountains and showed Him the world. Satan even took Jesus on a greater distance from the desert to Jerusalem and sat him on top of the church.
If the devil took Jesus, where do you think he will take you in a moment's notice?
Our wilderness temptations can come in urban settings. We can be tempted to act, say or do! Notice how Satan kept coming back. He doesn't stop. Luke 4:13 says the enemy left Jesus until another time.
We will be tempted but we MUST be like the Master. We need to have staying power! Hold on no matter what.
